drivin’ around at three o’clock in the morning
i try not to see the time i have a long way to get to where i’m going but i push that out of my mind it’s good to understand where you are standing and it’s good to know where you been and it’s good to work through the tough times and let the lessons start to creep in i think we’re able to let go of more baggage than we give ourselves credit for and the sunrise sayin’ hello in the morning time makes me believe that more and more the coffee shops are all closed and i’m hungry south dakota takes too long as i use this time to notice the country i’m letting go and i’m feeling strong i’m letting something in and i’m letting something go and i’m so thankful to be alive right now time is passing slowly but i’m thoroughly enjoying this drive i was in such a rut i was feeling so bad the weight of the world was pulling me down i don’t know how it works how you let it all go except you do and something new is found on this drive i am finally sitting still i have nowhere else to be the radio is playing mostly static now so i am listening to the space around me but it’s good to understand where i am standing and it’s good to know where i’ve been and it’s good to work through the tough times and let the lessons start to sink in i know i’m able to let go of more baggage than i give myself credit for and the sunrise sayin’ hello in the morning time makes me believe that more and more drivin’ around at three o’clock in the morning i try not to see the time i have a long way to get to where i’m going but i’m on my way and i’m doin’ fine... |

I used to feel so sorry for you
How the whole world was against Everything that you tried to do I used to think it was all up to me To take your side and to say you're right It was my duty to make everything all right You tell me just how hard it's been How you hate the state you're in And how you just can't wait for the day Your ship comes in Well, I'm all out of tea and sympathy I'm sorry to tell you Whether you should sink or swim It's not up to me to save you I used to think it was my fault When everything used to fall apart When the shit would fly and the fights would start I used think that it was my job To make you happy when it all went wrong Try to read your mind to give you what you want After all the good you do And all the hell they put you through Everyone's to blame Except for you chorus words & music by April McLean Moore/2002 Patch Of Blue Music/ASCAP |

She has eyes that mimic mine,
Her mouth is like her moms’ Sometimes when I hear her speak I know that I hear God. And in the backseat of my car There are secrets that she tells When I hear her innocence I know how far I fell. ICU In Dandylions, it’s true. ICU In Dandylions it’s true. Daddy I know it was you, and I know Kali saw you too When we go to bed at night I touch her tiny face She asks me can we say our prayers I am humbled by her grace. In the darkness of my room There are secrets that she tells When I hear her innocence It casts a magic spell ICU In Dandylions, it’s true. ICU In Dandylions it’s true. ICU In Dandylions, it’s true. In Dandylions it’s true. Daddy I know it was you, And I know Kali saw you |

The story behind ICU In Dandylions…
“In the early fall of 2000 my then four year old daughter Moyra and I were driving past a 7/11 on the way to Grandma Nikki’s house when she blurted out “ I see you in dandelions daddy”. I proceeded to tell her that was silly, but she insisted. “No daddy, it’s true. I see you in dandelions, and Kali saw you too!”{Kali is my niece and my daughters buddy.} That statement from my daughter {and the conviction behind it} swirled around in my head for a couple of days. And then on a Saturday evening I sat down with my acoustic guitar, and the song just came out. The simple words from my daughter were a turning point in my recovery. I see it as divine intervention. The story of the dandelion, which after dying and being spread across the skies yet coming back stronger than ever, became my story. A rebirth. And my daughters’ innocence, grace and non-judgmental attitude toward others made me {and still does} take a long hard look at myself. I am forever grateful that Moyra is in my life. The CD “ICU In Dadylions” is dedicated to her and is a diary of my thoughts and feelings throughout the last very interesting two years. I hope that if you find a bit of your story in mine, that this CD would be one of hope and connection. People can change. And love is the answer. |

You slay my dragons while I sleep
You clear the cobwebs that I keep You light my soul when it's dark inside You aren't afraid of what you'll find Chorus: You're the bravest man that I've ever known In valor and in honor you stand alone when you come into my life with your shining armor I let you into my lair to be my Dragonslayer Now all the demons in my head Have all given up their reign and fled Now in the corners where they once dwelt stands a fortress of strength that you have built Chorus You've given more than I could ever return So take my heart as your reward and know, my love, that you'll always be my greatest treasure to me Chorus |

Cliques who never picked up a book
were telling you how to act and how to look I used to call them the " Cookie Cutter Crowd" You weren't cool if you got good grades or didn't drink, or smoke, or get laid but if you did you could go to their parties at the landfill! Now, the major cliques were the "skaters" and the "rebels" who were all the same except the rebels wore leather and the skaters had the "skateboarding's not a crime" bumperstickers But they all went to all the same parties... and I'm sure now they all work at Hardees still arguing over whether or not Ozzy is cool This was my Highschool - yeah yeah This was my Highschool - yeah, yeah Eighty dollars was taken from my purse during gym class one day, and to make matters worse the exact same thing happened the day before I had a feeling I knew who to blame I never confronted her though, and it's such a shame after all, she was soon to be somebody's mommy A friend of mine had his leather jacket stolen right out of his locker one monday morning... and he too thought he knew who'd done it later that week his suspicions were confirmed when to him the alleged theif turned and said, "Hey man, do you wanna buy a leather jacket?" Chorus I hated Highschool... The spanish teacher would hit on me and try to teach me "biology" between classes she always smelled like pot. (Regarding the come-on) "Uh...no thanks," I said, "but, the gym coach might be interested she's always trying to get me on her 'team'" Now, certain teachers of geometry and social studies periodically would be sighted partying with last year's grads. But the English teacher was a proper man who later changed - so I understand and shacked up with the principal's son. Chorus The Vice-principal approached me one day and said, "Get rid of that headband , OK?! We don't allow any fashion statements here!" I was like, what do you mean? Isn't everything you wear a fashion statement and not just your hair? I told him I thought it was a really silly rule But I remember later that year wearing a dress to class on day that was sheer with nothing underneath but a string bikini It's funny then he didn't seem to care and at every turn, guess who was there! Apparently he liked what he saw. Chorus I hated Highschool... |

| 4. | Giving Up & Letting Go | Giving Up & Letting Go
It wouldn't have to be this hard
If it were written in the stars There comes a time when you just know Good-bye's the only way to go And I look back before I go on and try to figure out what went wrong I used to think it was giving up and that I wasn't trying hard enough but now I've been around long enough to know There's a difference between Giving Up & Letting Go I think I gave it my best shot I know I've given all I've got And though it hasn't happened yet I will look back without regret I hoped and prayed that it wouldn't turn out this way But it looks like fate had the final say I used to think it was giving up and that I wasn't trying hard enough but now I've been around long enough to know There's a difference between Giving Up & Letting Go |

I used to have this one girlfriend - her name was Jenny
We did everything together... When I wasn't over at her place we were talkin' on the telephone But now, but now, Jenny's never home! Jenny's Got a Boyfriend Jenny's Got a Boyfriend Jenny's Got a Boyfriend Well, I guess there are other girls...but none like Jenny A good girlfriend is hard to find! Like, Debby is kind of strange and Sarah moved to Chicago I can't believe Jenny would do this to me Chorus And she forgot about me Everybody's telling me it's only human nature and I would do the same to her sooner or later I would never, ever...oh ...OH, Jenny! I can only hope that he breaks her heart in two And she'll come running back to me And we can talk on the phone about how stupid boys are And things will be the way they were before Chorus and she forgot about me and she forgot about me and she forgot about me Oh Jenny! Chorus |
